Wellness Week At PTS

During the week of November 26th -30th, the Halo Club sponsored Wellness Week. Before Wellness Week, Halo club had a mission to bring mindfulness to campus. School causes a lot of stresses that we often don't even realize anymore because we have become so accustomed to living under such pressures, but it's important to slow things down sometimes. PTS senior Autumn Jade Stoner came up with Wellness Week because she knew she wanted to get the school involved in thinking about what mental health means in the bigger picture. Not just why we should think positively and be kind to others, but also why it matters to give thought to those struggling with mental health conditions. It was very effective to make sure that the bigger issues were also presented in the context of spreading positivity throughout the week. Halo Club members put up posters to spread awareness about mental illness and the stigma attached to it in order to try and dispel some of those misconceptions. Mental health is extremely close to home, because mental illness can affect anyone, and everyone has experienced fluctuations in their mental health. Club members decided on each of the daily activities because they wanted each day to cover a different area of the mind-body-soul complex. It took a lot of meetings with the Student Activities Director, Mrs. Cetta, to put everything together. The activities throughout the week were meant to get people thinking; even if they did not participate, they would see emails and be reminded of what Wellness meant to them.
