Palmer Trinity School has taken the urgent responsibility to prepare students for their life and work as citizens-and leaders- in a global world.
Global Education, therefore, is not an option. The School has certain starting advantages.
We are situated in multicultural Miami, and that is reflected in our student body – many of them bilingual and trilingual, and in our faculty.
We are a founding member of the Global Education Benchmark Group (GEBG), a national institution of independent schools that have leading global programs. In the spring of 2015, PTS hosted the GEBG International Conference with 200 participating schools from around the world.
Palmer Trinity School has always maintained a commitment to diversity and is a founding institution of the Global Education Benchmarking Group (GEBG). Founded in 2008, GEBG was created to increase the emphasis of global education in schools across the United States. Through their mission, they aim to identify best practices in global education by collecting, analyzing, and sharing data from GEBG members; to promote the development of global education in schools through curriculum, experiences, and institutional support; to encourage global citizenship; and to enhance the knowledge and skill sets required to understand different viewpoints, in the world today, that will help us thrive and engage in increasingly interconnected world systems. Most importantly, as a result of their efforts, they have created a network of premier educational institutions, from all over the world, that work together to give high school students a chance to broaden their intellectual horizons through study abroad opportunities. In 2012, Palmer Trinity hosted the GEBG Annual conference on its campus. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen was the keynote speaker and spoke about the benefits of a global education. The Haiti Partnership Program is part of our school’s Global Studies Program and Episcopal Identity. In conjunction with the National Association of Episcopal Schools Partnership Program, we have entered into a partnership with the St. Thomas School in Lamecette, Haiti. In February, a small group of students travel to visit St. Thomas Lamecette. During the four-day trip, our students will be highly interactive within the school by assisting the teachers with classes and cultivating relationships with the youth through crafts, sports, music, and dialogue. Within these activities, our students will receive experiential understanding and service. This will be a long-term partnership that will benefit both communities and further develop the global experience and awareness for which Palmer Trinity is known.

The Nicaragua Mission is a transformative experience that changes how students view the world and themselves. Palmer Trinity takes two annual service trips to Nicaragua, where students work in thoughtfully organized service programs to build homes for families in need, assist two rescue homes, and support a local elementary school. Through student volunteer labor and donations of clothing, medical supplies, and other materials, we build simple, decent houses alongside our partner families in Nicaragua. In addition, our students paint murals, replace fences, run children’s camps, establish feeding programs, and help support students so they can attend secondary school. Every evening we gather and provide structured time for the students to reflect through discussion and journaling on their experiences during their time in Nicaragua, as the trip broadens students’ attitudes and habits by deepening their convictions to community and inspiring lives of service. Watch a video of past PTS Nicaragua Missions.
A partnership with the Simply Smiles NGO that builds prefab housing on the largest reservation of Lakota Indians that are part of the Sioux Tribe on the Cheyenne River in South Dakota. Our students will be working with First Nation people assisting with housing work in the mornings, running a summer camp for the kids in the afternoons, and in the evening participating in community events. On the weekend we will see part of the Pow Wow before we depart. To learn the culture and history of our first American people is part of the richness of this experience.
