Bethany, Masada, Qumran, and the Dead Sea

We travel to Bethany and the Wilderness.
To begin with we stopped at the home of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. There is a beautiful church over the home where Mary listened intently to Jesus and Martha was serving the guest. Jesus reminds Martha to listen to his words. Later when Jesus is in Galiee, Lazarus dies, in three days he returns to Bethany and revives Lazarus.
Next we travelled far to reach Masada. Here Herod built a palace and later Jews hid from the Romans and held out for over two years. The archeological exhibits were incredible and some of the best we have seen.

Then we traveled to the place where the Dead Sea Scrolls were accidentally found in huge jars. Thanks be to God for these holy scriptures that answer many unanswered questions in the Torah. We also learned about the Essenes and their monastic pratices. Fascinating that these men dedicated their entire existence to worshipping Yahweh.

We we ended up jumping in our bath suits and floating in the Dead Sea...the lowest place on earth in the saltiest sea. The mud and water affected our skin which became silky soft. The experience was like others else!
