Latin American History Honors/AP Art Classes Field Trip to Little Haiti

Little Haiti area
This trip is an integral part of the course in which students will connect the history of our city of Miami with the history of Latin America, and in particular with the Haitian diasporic community.

Students will begin their trip visiting the Redland Market Village, and afterwards, to Little Haiti to analyze and study the urban characteristics of this neighborhood. This trip will include a visit to the Notre Dame d’ Haiti Catholic Church, as a significant center for the Haitian immigrant community, and a visit to the studio of acclaimed Haitian artist Eduardo Duval Carrie. The final product of the experience will be an ethnographic photo essay on the Haitian diasporic community in Miami.
