The Falcons Cross Country team represented Palmer Trinity well at the 2018 State Championships in Tallahassee. Freshman George Stark led the boys with a personal best run of 17:09 while Julia Irvin led the girls with a time of 21:51. Great job to all on a fantastic 2018 season. For the second week in a row, the Palmer Trinity Varsity Football team has defeated rival Westminster Christian, this time by a score of 22-10 to advance to the second round of the FHSAA State Playoffs. Senior Kyon White-Royal led the Falcons on both sides of the ball, rushing for 92 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, while amassing 13 tackles, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Dylan Dylewski added seven tackles. Quarterback Nicholas Casares threw for 128 yards. Palmer Trinity will travel to Chaminade-Madonna on Friday, November 16th with kickoff set for 7:30 pm.
The defending State Champion Varsity Boys Soccer team opened up their season right where they left off, defeating Palmetto by a score of 4-2. Alberto Franceschi notched his first two goals of the season while Robert Bistry and Hermogenes Lopez-Pulido each added a goal. Oscar Anzola-Schnell had two assists. The Falcons will face Coral Reef in Day Two of the Preseason Classic on Thursday, November 8th at 4:00 pm.
For the fourth year in a row, the Palmer Trinity Falcons have won the Florida Independent Football Conference. The Falcons improved to 9-2 on the year with a 29-7 win over rival Westminster Christian in the championship game. Brandon Yanes ran for 200 yards on 22 carries including a 76 yard touchdown run to open up the scoring. Nicholas Casares threw for 135 yards and a touchdown while completing 12 of 15 passes. Jose Corbo added a 70 yard punt return and a receiving touchdown while Kyon White-Royal led the defense with 12 tackles.
Congratulations to the Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country teams for qualifying for the State Championships next week in Tallahassee, FL. The Boys team was named Regional Runner-Up with an average time of 18:28 and was led by Reilly May, George Stark and Sebastian Lopez. On the Girls side, Julia Irvin led the Girls team to a 5th place overall finish and a team average of 22:48, enough to earn the girls their first trip to the State Championships since 2015.
Despite trailing at the half, the Varsity Football team came away victorious in the Florida Independent Football Conference Semifinals, beating Westminster Academy by a score of 30-22. Brandon Yanes led the the rushing attack, taking 23 carries for 183 yards and a touchdown. Nicholas Casares threw for 229 yards and a touchdown, completing 11/13 passes. Joseph Sulkes led the receivers with two catches for 83 yards and a score. The Falcons, 8-2, will take on Westminster Christian on Friday, November 2nd at the Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar for the FIFC Championship.
