This week, our 6th-grade students participated in an exciting virtual workshop about mummification in ancient Egypt. Hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, students learned how and why ancient Egyptians mummified their dead by stepping into the role of apprentice to an ancient Egyptian embalmer! Using fabricated mummies, students explored the artificial mummification process as they prepared "Mr. Ulysses Penn" for his journey to the afterlife.
