Miami Herald Honors PTS Coaches and Athletes

The Miami Herald Presented their annual Sports Awards on Friday and Palmer Trinity was well-represented.  Nearly 20 Falcon student-athletes were honored for making First-Team All-County and three Falcons walked away with the top award in their category.
Head Girls Soccer Coach Akram Molaka was selected by the Herald as the Girls Soccer Coach of the Year.  Molaka directed the Falcons to a FHSAA State Runner-Up Finish in just his second year as head coach. Joining him at the event as members of the county first team all-stars were Bailey Evans and Sarah Medina.

Head Girls Lacrosse Coach Kristen Avvento also took home Coach of the Year honors as recognition of PTS being the top team in Dade County.  The Falcons were well-represented on the first team as 8 Palmer Trinity players were honored along with the 2012 County Player of the Year, Margaret Franklin who capped off a steller career by leading the Falcons to a District Runner-Up finish.

Also attending the ceremony was Barbara Lopez, a member of the first team volleyball all-stars who helped lead PTS to its 4th straight District title this year.

Congratulations to all of the PTS First Team All-Stars and to Coaches of the Year - Akram Molaka and Kristen Avvento, and to Player of the Year - Margaret Franklin.  GO FALCONS!
