Falcons Beat Warriors in OT! PTS now in 1st Place

In front of a packed house, the Palmer Trinity Boys basketball team overcame a 10 point second half deficit to defeat the Westminster Warriors 65 - 59 in an overtime thriller.  Senior Greg Eckblom also notched his 1,000th career point on a free throw that also proved to be the game winner. With the win, the Falcons now sit in sole possession of 1st place in the District.

Leading Scorers:
Greg Eckblom – 35 pts
Stephen Marbert – 9 pts
David Omachonu – 9 pts

The Falcons struggled versus the Warrior 1-3-1 halfcourt trap for much of the 1st half and into the 3rd quarter. At the half, the Falcons could only manage 14 points.  In the 4th quarter, the Falcons picked up their defensive intensity, lead by the on-the-ball pressure of Jonah Kaplan to force the Warriors into several turnovers. 3 pointers in transition by Stephen Marbert and Gregory Eckblom brought the Falcons back from a big deficit to tie the game.  The score was tied 54 - 54 at the end of regulation.  In overtime, the Falcons jumped out to a 58-54 lead before the Warriors fought back and tied the game, but two big free throws by Greg Eckblom sealed the game for the Falcons. Thanks to all of the Falcon Fans for coming out and supporting the boys varsity basketball team.  The Falcons play again on Friday with a home game vs Marathon at 7:00 PM.
