Head of School Sean Murphy will be leaving Palmer Trinity to head St Andrews Episcopal School in Austin Texas.
- He will finish the current school year at Palmer Trinity.
- The process of searching and hiring a replacement will occur over this school year and next.
- There will be an interim head next year until the replacement takes over the following year.
- It is up to parents to decide if your student will be allowed to drive with other students in the car or if your student can ride in a car driven by another student.
- Most parents present said that they did not allow their teenagers to drive other kids in the car for at least a year.
- There is a driving contract on the Parent Education web site that you can use as a tool to let your student know what is expected of their driving behavior and consequences for violating the contract.
- Some Parents have been driving down the wrong side of the street after dropping off their students to avoid the line at the light. This is dangerous, illegal and not very respectful to the neighbors.
- What do you tell your insurance company if they ask what caused an accident (such as a sports accident) that injures a student? Some want you to name other students involved.
- The answer is - tell them the truth. The insurance companies will work it out between themselves. It is not personal.
Social Media
- There is a new social media site Snapchat that allows students to send text and pictures/video but then erases it leaving no trace. This allows cyber bullies to send offensive material and hide the evidence. Tell your student to save the screen image as a photo to document offensive content.
- There is a knife manufacturer that is offering military style dog tags that can be converted to a knife by snapping off an edge. They are small but could be considered concealed weapons.
