Palmer Trinity School Wins Bronze Award at Fairchild Challenge
MIAMI — June XX, 2026 — Palmer Trinity School earned a Bronze Award at the Fairchild Challenge, an interdisciplinary environmental science competition that engages students of diverse interests, abilities and backgrounds in exploring the natural world. The school participated in the challenge throughout the academic year.
Palmer Trinity was recognized as one of the top-scoring schools in the high school division. Students and teachers from IB Environmental Systems and Societies I and II, AP English Language and the STEM Student Council collaborated to promote environmental stewardship, addressing challenges presented by Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
These include protecting plant species threatened with extinction, many of which are highly endemic, meaning they grow in only one location and are especially vulnerable to habitat loss and invasive species. As part of their efforts, students helped plant endangered species.
In addition to the award, the school received a $750 grant to support and enhance campus environmental initiatives.
“We are very pleased to receive this award as it recognizes the success of our school’s interdisciplinary collaboration throughout the year,” said Patrick Roberts, Head of School. “This collective effort not only gained community recognition but impressed upon students that preserving the delicate balance in the natural world is an ongoing endeavor.”
