Palmer Trinity Students in Iceland

Written by Ms. Alexandra Smith

Thirty-three Palmer Trinity students and four faculty members partook of an incredible adventure exploring the natural wonders of Iceland, a land of contrasts and natural wonders that captivate and inspire. The students learned about the geological forces that shape our planet, as they hiked across glaciers, explore lava caves, and witness powerful geysers in action.

The breathtaking waterfalls and volcanic craters reminded us all of the incredible power of nature. We started by visiting the Bridge between the Two Continents, where we straddled the rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. We then explored Reykjanes Toe, a geothermal area with bubbling mud pools and steam vents.

The highlight of our trip was witnessing the power and beauty of Gullfoss and the Geysir. Finally, we descended into a lava tunnel to marvel at the unique rock formations and learn about the island's geological.

Iceland is truly a magical place.
