Convocation about the Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) and the People of Color Conference

This week, students shared their experiences at the Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) and the People of Color Conference (#NAISPOCC) last semester with Palmer Trinity's DEI (Diversity Equity & Inclusion) Coordinators.
The NAIS -- National Association of Independent Schools--Student Diversity Leadership Conference is a multiracial, multicultural gathering of upper school student leaders (grades 9-12) from across the U.S. and abroad.
Student participants joined affinity groups with others who shared their ethnic, racial, or sexual identities, heard from different speakers, and learned how they can "show up" to represent how they associate themselves.
SDLC focuses on self-reflecting, forming allies, and building community. Led by a diverse team of trained adult and peer facilitators, participating students develop cross-cultural communication skills, design effective strategies for social justice practice through dialogue and the arts, and learn the foundations of ally-ship and networking principles.
