Guest Speaker Pat Neal at Quill & Scroll Meeting

The Quill & Scroll International Journalism Honor Society at Palmer Trinity School featured notable alumna, Pat Neal, as a guest speaker at their end-of-the-year meeting and celebration. Neal is a multi-award-winning journalist who was a producer, correspondent, foreign bureau chief in Jerusalem and Cairo. Neal also was a supervising producer for CNN, the world’s largest global news organization. She has interviewed presidents, senators, heads of state, celebrities, and many others. 

Neal shared highlights of her career and the major stories she covered across the country and around the world.  She also shared how she successfully applied the skills she learned as a journalist to corporate communications in a leadership role at Bacardi Limited where she served as Vice President, Corporate Communication.

Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society for High School Journalists was organized April 10, 1926, at the University of Iowa by renowned pollster George H. Gallup and a group of high school advisers for the purpose of encouraging and recognizing individual student achievement in journalism and scholastic publication.

Since its founding, school charters have been granted to more than 11,300 high schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and 29 foreign countries. Media advisers in chartered schools are eligible to recommend outstanding high school journalism students for membership in Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society.
