Author Dr. Jay R. Calkins Visits PTS Classes

Dr. Jay R. Calkins spoke to Ms. Fernandez’s ESOL students and Mrs. Harris' English class about his book, The Fifth Cemetery. After sharing about his writing process, and reading the first chapter of his next book, students had the opportunity to have their books signed by the author. Dr. Calkins is an educator with a strong background in biology and environmental science. The book is the first of the Danny Collins series aimed to mystify the preteen reader with stories about the life of 13 year old Danny Collins. The series will include several books that follow the young protagonist through many mysteries that will include an illegal dumping ring, marine mammal stranding and other environmental disasters that threaten the wellbeing of the island community.
