Student Visits to Little Haiti and Masjid An-Noor Islamic School

The AP Human Geography class visited the ethnic neighborhood of Little Haiti and learned about its history and rich culture. They shared about their experience, and their research on Haitian history, at the Francophonie convocation.

Applying the lenses of urban geographers, students gained a deeper comprehension of climate gentrification and its impact on this location. After their visit to Little Haiti, they practiced participant observation techniques and conducted interviews with members of the Masjid An-Noor Islamic School. This instance of experiential learning contributed to expand and enrich students understanding of this religious and cultural community.
