Students Create Interactive Presentations for "Museum Project"

To simulate an exhibition, students in Dr. Beske's class created interactive museum displays appealing to the five senses for an Early Civilizations Museum Project. Each group  made use of videos, music, food, scents, costumes and activities to create a "museum experience." Their goal of group members was to collaborate to research their assigned civilization and its “greatness,” thereby convincing museum visitors (i.e., classmates) of the important impact that each society has made on the world today.

When the class walked into the room, they encountered visual artifacts and displays, to transport them to the culture, using attributes of their place and time. Each respective group shared about the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, China, Maya, Aztec, and Inca. This project provided immersive ways to learn more about government, religion, environment, social structure, economics, science/technology, and culture.
