Student Diversity Leadership Conference Zoom Convocation

Student Diversity Leadership Conference Zoom Presentations

Palmer Trinity School participates annually with our peer schools at the National Association of Independent Schools: Student Diversity Leadership Conference.

This conference is a multiracial, multicultural gathering of upper school student leaders (grades 9-12) from across the United States and abroad with the purpose of educating young minds about equity and justice.

On Tuesday, January 25th and Wednesday, January 26th,  Palmer Trinity School held its annual Student Diversity Leadership Convocation.

Those students who attended the conference spoke to our school about their experiences. As is often the case, their speeches are personal and in some cases might present our student community with different ideas and concepts. Students shared the challenges of bullying, in addition to navigating racial identity, social identity, and sexual orientation.

The students were saddened that they were not able to present to our community in person, and PTS Diversity Equity & Inclusion Coordinators thank the faculty for setting a respectful  tone in their advisories.

As students listened to these speeches, it is possible that they do not agree with what is said or the complexities of the issue. The important thing is that all of us listen to each other and learn compassion and empathy from their stories.

As a school community, we are aware that each family has particular views on sensitive subjects.
