Celebrating Veterans Day with the Community

Thursday morning Palmer Trinity School and the Village of Palmetto Bay honored local veterans at their annual Veterans’ Day special assembly and breakfast held at the school’s Trinity Chapel on campus. Guests included approximately 60 veterans and their families, Village of Palmetto Bay Mayor Karyn Cunningham, Miami-Dade commissioners Jose “Pepe” Diaz and Danielle Cohen Higgins, and guest speaker Nicholas F. Marano, Village Manager and retired Colonel of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Palmer Trinity School was also the recipient of a Purple Heart Special Recognition Award for its support of United States veterans and their families, as well as those who have been injured in combat. In addition to holding breakfasts and special events honoring local veterans, Palmer Trinity students write and send out letters to people actively serving. Palmer Trinity is the first Purple Heart High School in Florida.
