Faculty Member Participates on "Education in Cuba and the Diaspora: a Teacher-Oriented Conversation" Panel

Thank you to the Cuban Research Institute at FIU for the inviting Laura Massa, Chair of the History/Humanities Department to participate on a panel "Education in Cuba and the Diaspora: a Teacher-Oriented Conversation."

This session introduced a pedagogical approach implemented in a Latin American History Honors course taught at PTS. The curricular design included the use of ethnographic methods to bridge students' personal, familial, and communal narratives with the bigger history of Latin America. Using the city of Miami as a laboratory students explored how the diasporic community built this ethnic neighborhood.

Ms. Massa had the opportunity to share her pedagogical practice at Palmer Trinity School and thanks her peer panelists for their outstanding research.
