Earth Week Challenge at PTS
"What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide
what kind of difference you want to make." Jane Goodall The members of the Environmental Action Club took proactive steps to invite students, faculty and staff to celebrate and honor Earth Week.
The School celebrated the week by participating in the #EarthWeekChallenge:
1. Meatless Monday – Don't eat meat or dairy. Eat delicious vegan food.
2. Transportation Tuesday – Carpool, take public transport, bike, run, walk and use greener modes of transportation.
3. Water Wednesday – Conserve water and learn how we can protect our water resources.
4. Trashy Thursday – Refuse, reduce, reuse, repair, recycle, rot – practice all the Rs to minimize your waste.
5. Civic Friday – Educate yourself, friends and family about the policy solutions. Write to your elected leaders. Push for community and government action.
6. Shop Green Saturday – Research which products and businesses are more sustainable, so you can support a green economy.
7. Nature Sunday – Spend time in nature.
On Thursday, for Shred Your Threads, funds supported Debris Free Oceans. Students also placed flyers around the school to increase awareness of environmental issues. Environmental Action Club members gave a presentations about climate change in classrooms. These students are CLEO Climate Speakers through the Climate Leadership Information Program (CLIP) at Palmer Trinity School.
CLIP is a component of The CLEO Institute’s Climate Resilient Schools program, a climate change education program that aims to increase climate literacy in Florida by working with students and teachers.
One of the goals of the Environmental Action Club is to assist the school community to become better stewards.

The Environmental Action Club at Palmer Trinity School is a group of engaged students and teachers that are committed to raising awareness about environmental issues and to reducing environmental impact as individuals, a school community, and as citizens of the world. The club allows students to explore environmental issues, engage in problem solving, and take action to improve the environment. As a result, students gain a deeper understanding of environmental issues and develop the skills to make informed and responsible decisions.
