Big History

Dr. Melissa Beske's 9th grade World History and World History Honors classes are exploring the world through the lens of "Big History."

These courses explore the human story contextualized within the narrative of the universe--from the Big Bang to the present.

Now in her seventh year at PTS, Dr. Beske came to the School after teaching anthropology as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Tulane University. A native of Georgia, she attended college at Vanderbilt University in Nashville and graduate school at Tulane University in New Orleans before calling South Florida home.

She is the author of "Intimate Partner Violence and Advocate Response: Redefining Love in Western Belize" (Lexington Books, 2016), a book which provides an ethnography of gender-based violence and survivor advocacy near the Belizean-Guatemalan border.

In her spare time, she can be found listening to chillstep or trance music, visiting mountains, debating whose school is better with her husband, or communing with her cats.
