Freshmen visit NASA Kennedy Space Center

The ninth-grade class had an unforgettable trip to NASA Kennedy Space Center, where they participated in the program Salute to Science. Teams competed to design, build and test a prototype of a rover to Mars, selecting materials under a restrictive budget. The winner was the group whose vehicle ran the farthest possible distance, carrying four passengers on board. During the morning, astronaut Daniel Tani answered several interesting questions from our students and encouraged them to pursue a career in STEM. Students had the opportunity to see the biggest rocket ever built at the Saturn V/Apollo Center, observe the Apollo 14 command module and touch a lunar rock. During the afternoon they toured around the launch pads and finalized the visit with the imposing Space Shuttle Atlantis.
