Varsity Boys Soccer Returns to State Championship

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Soccer team for their win against Lakeland Christian by a score of 2-1 (overtime) in the State Semifinals.  After a very tight first half, the Falcons came out strong in the second half.  Freshman Hermogenes Lopez-Pulido scored the first goal in the match, assisted by Freshman Luis Sosa, to put the Falcons up 1-0.  Late in the second half, the Vikings tied the game on a penalty, taking the game to overtime.  The score remained tied until the second half of extra time when Senior Nicolas Rey placed a header in the back of the net from Freshman Hermogenes Lopez-Pulido to take the lead once again.  The Falcons will now head to DeLand on Thursday, February 21st at 4:00 pm to face Shorecrest Prep in the State Finals.  Way to go Falcons!
