Our 8th Grade Honors Seminar students experienced their sacred connection with water in a ceremony with Soto elder and teacher Wayne William Snellgrove. Mr. Snellgrove led students in sharing and deepening their relationship with water as a sacred relative. Students took some of the blessed water with them to return it to a natural body of water as a sign of their own commitment to take their ceremonial experience into their daily lives. “In the western mind, water is seen as a resource,” Mr. Snellgrove said during the ceremony, “but in the indigenous mindset water is a relationship, a responsibility.”
