In a collaboration between Dr. Llinas' classes and Mr. Moore's Middle School Scientific Inquiry elective, 30 students have been working on a project to help identify the trees around Palmer Trinity. Dr. Llinas made a book locating, mapping, and describing all the different species of trees on campus. Over the past year and a half, Mr. Moore's Middle School Science elective has transformed that book into QR codes that have been laser cut into wood and hung on posts to resemble a Google pin. With the help of Mr. Diaz, the students were able to use the laser printer in the Innovation station to print the QR code pins. The students created documents which the QR codes link to that provide bullet points of Dr. Llinas' work and include a picture of the tree and the map on campus with the highlighted tree.
