Teamwork

"If you see a frog perched atop a flagpole, you can be sure that he did not get there all by himself."
--Anonymous (first noted by me from my Grandmother, Katherine Osborne)

Since my last Missive to you (faculty and staff), it has been an incredibly busy stretch of the school year. The final days of the year are underway, and with that come the various farewells, celebrations, senior "salutes", and more...As we all know, awards gatherings dominate the calendar at this time, and the pace of the year quickens dramatically.

Today as I write to you, I am planning to leave the office shortly to attend both our Band and Orchestra performances. After catching a bit of our Inaugural Miamun Conference on Friday, and yesterday's Guitar Concert, it has been a weekend full of wonderful Palmer Trinity "Teams" in action.  While I feel a bit dazed today, I also feel incredibly proud of our Community, especially as we watch all of these amazing Teams pull off incredible moments for our School.
Whether it be our Thespians producing an outdoor performance of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown", our Girl's Lacrosse Team capturing a District Championship, our Guitarists treating us to an inspired, energetic "Kalimba", or our nearly 40 Model UN students spending a weekend discussing world issues, each of these groups displays the highest form of collaboration and exemplifies phenomenal teamwork.

Without listing every Team in action, I can argue that at any given moment during a "regular" day, a visitor to our campus would be most impressed by any and all of the Teams on display...

Art and his Team are working overtime these days, setting up for all of our upcoming celebrations.

Chef Mauricio and his Team are feeding nearly 1,000 of us twice a day, and sometimes even more, as we host special events in the evening!

Juan and his Team are working overtime to help us reach our Annual Fund goal, while also raising dollars for our Soaring Campaign and finding new ways to connect our Alumni...

Denise and her Parent Team continue to provide countless volunteer hours so necessary for all of these year-end "moments"...

Leo, Ania, and Laura put their "teamwork" to great use this past week, sharing their feedback and research for our Faculty/Staff discussion regarding our Honor Code and Integrity.

Paul and his Team provided for a full day on Friday of envisioning the very soon to be future of our campus, as we toured the New Classroom Building and met with Steelcase to sneak a "peek" into what our potential learning environments may be.

Ernest and his Team set the tone early last week with a great evening celebrating our student-athletes.

Tomorrow, Sandi and her Art Team will put the "final touches" on our upcoming Art Walk, ushering in the month of May, and signaling the always exciting final stretch of the school year.

Later this week, Ashley, Raul, and our Senior Advisors will lead us through the "farewell" Convocation for the Class of 2018...

Without listing every single group and event, I hope you get my point; that is, our Community is one made up of incredibly talented, inspired and diligent individuals. We are truly blessed. Each of us serves as a Team Member in any number of groups, on any given day. Each of us, therefore, is vital and brings our unique gifts, abilities and positive energy to our School.

And, with these opportunities comes the responsibility we each bear to serve one another and our greater Community in a spirit of Love. As I mentioned to you last March, this love for what we do, for one another, and for our extended Global Community truly sets us apart and calls us to the highest form of service. Our work relies on this concept, and as I have shared with you before:

“Championships are won by teams who love one another. Love isn’t used that often as a motivational tool, but it might just be the strongest one of all. It takes into account so many other significant factors: respect, dedication, commitment, gratitude, admiration, desire, fortitude, teamwork---all those things that are required for success…”
---Tom Coughlin

Accordingly, I say "thank you" wholeheartedly to each of you for serving on the Palmer Trinity Team. As we begin to wrap up our "season", I do hope you'll take a moment to pause, reflect and know just what a true honor and privilege it is to serve on such a Team. We have much to be proud of, and I sincerely look forward to embracing these final weeks with the full gratitude and fulfilling sense of knowing that our Team is heading towards a well-deserved Victory Celebration in June!
