The journey to Jerusalem from Nazareth was filled with incredible scenery.
Traveling through the mounrains and valleys on our way to the Holy City of David revealed rugged landscape. We drove to a place where we had to get into small vans to snake up a mountain with breathtaking views....the Transfiguration. Here Jesus was transfigured in his glory talking with Moses and Elijah. Moses was given the law and Elijah never died but went to heaven in flames. This action reinforces the disciples faith and begin their understanding that Jesus is the long awaited Messiah.
Next we we traveled to Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Holy Nativity. Here Jesus was born to Mary and she placed him in a stone manger as was the custom.
The holy places are filled with pilgrims from all over the world. So far we have met Russians, Japanese, Germans and British visitors...
