Get to Know Director of Athletics, Dave Lanham

The Falcon family is excited to welcome incoming Director of Athletics Dave Lanham to the Palmer Trinity community. Coach Lanham comes to PTS with 17 years of experience as a Director of Athletics in his home state of Maryland in both the public and private sectors. In addition to bringing a wealth of experience in the daily requirements of the Director of Athletics role, such as mentoring coaches, scheduling, game management, and conflict resolution, Coach Lanham has also served as the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association Class 4A Baseball Director, a member of the Athletic Legislative Committee, and the 2nd Vice President of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association. Coach Lanham was recognized as the District Athletic Director of the Year in 2008 and 2016 before being named MSADA Athletic Director of the Year in 2017.
Coach Lanham is excited about the opportunity to begin working at Palmer Trinity, where he believes the core values of our community align with his own goals and visions. He is excited about where the Palmer Trinity Athletic Program stands and intends to focus on organization and communication to continue to excel while hoping to build character and sportsmanship within our Falcon athletes. Coach Lanham reflects back to high school when he first knew he wanted to teach and coach to be able to pass down the lessons taught to him. He notes that his favorite part of the job is watching student-athletes grow and develop while building strong, supportive relationships with each of them as well as the PTS coaches and faculty.

Prior to his roles in athletic administration, Coach Lanham served as a Physical Education and Health Teacher and Head Baseball Coach following his graduation from Pfeiffer University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health and served as a four-year starter and scholarship player on the baseball team. Coach Lanham went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Athletic Leadership and Administration from Goucher College and a Certified Master Athletic Administrator Certification from the National Interscholastic Athletic Association.

Outside the office and off the fields, Coach Lanham enjoys spending time with his family on family adventures and exercising. He also appreciates the chance to attend live collegiate and professional sporting events and notes that he is an avid Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fan. While he listens to all types of music and doesn’t have a particular favorite band, ESPN Sports Talk Radio is his station of choice and lists Prison Break as his favorite TV show.

Coach Lanham is excited to get the 2020-2021 year underway and cannot wait for sports to return and have a chance to work with all the Falcon student-athletes and coaches.
