WELCOME TO PALMER TRINITY SCHOOL 2020 VIRTUAL FALCON SUMMER CAMP

Palmer Trinity School invites boys and girls in Kindergarten and up in the greater Miami community to experience arts, academics, enrichment, and sports at our 2020 VirtualFalcon Summer Camp. Join our world-class faculty, staff, and summer camp specialists for a fun-filled and activity-based program for all ages.

Our 8-week Virtual Falcon Summer Camp will be held Monday - Friday beginning June 8, 2020, and Registration opens February 15, 2020. English and Math Conditional Registration for new incoming students opens December 2, 2019. Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis.     Join Mr. Michael Stoddard, Director of Theater at Palmer Trinity School, for a week-long virtual acting course specializing in the preparation and performance of the perfect audition song or monologue. Over the course of the week each student will learn how to dissect, prepare, and then perform their very own monologue or solo song performance. Students in the class will interact with other students through specialized online warm-up and acting exercises. Each student will improve by receiving personal direction and instruction from Mr. Stoddard and grow further through self and group evaluation of their online performances. This course is beneficial for beginners or experienced performers.

    Join Dr. Harvin for our PTS Falcon Chess! program. Enjoy playing and learning about the profound and beautiful game of chess. Playing chess develops thought-habits such as inquiry, strategic planning, pattern recognition, rule-based thinking, problem-solving, visualization, creativity, and competition.  

    Each session will include learning and playing using tactics, strategy, and winning combinations. Students will create a chesskid.com account and a lichess.org account to play games and drills online. Zoom meetings for each session. Given enrollment of 5 or more, the final sessions will culminate in a tournament with first, second, and third place trophies awarded.
     
  • Coding Games in SCRATCH

    Ever wondered what makes a good game? This course will lead you through the game design process, where you will explore the different types of games and the recipe to make them. Students in this course will write interactive stories and develop games using the graphical language of SCRATCH. No previous coding experience is required as students will learn fundamental programming principles and techniques. Students will work through several examples while they pick up the essential skills needed to design and build their very own game. Instead of being just a player, they will become a game maker too.
     
  • Creative Writing

    This course will focus on expressive writing in a variety of forms. Students will explore the following writing styles- slam poetry & prose, genre fiction, & nonfiction. Students will study writing samples from professional writers, as well as have student writers guide student progress in mini-workshops.
     
  • Dance

    Ages: Participants will be placed in 2 groups (Kindergarten - 3rd grade and 4th grade - 12th grade)

    Dance Classes are designed to expose dancers from the community to a variety of dance forms and teach proper skills for Hip Hop, Contemporary, Technique (Tricks, Conditioning, Flexibility), Theatrical Jazz/Tap, Improv/Self-Choreography, Classical Ballet, and Modern. Required Attire: Comfortable dancewear.

  • Deering Estate: S.E.A. Camp (Shore, Ecology, and Awareness)

    Palmer Trinity School has partnered with Deering Estate to provide this unique all day Virtual Camp to our community. Learn about South Florida’s rich cultural and natural resources. This program takes place virtually where participants will gain experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) careers, all while having fun. This virtual camp will conduct the following activities:
    • Day 1: 9:30am-11:30am Scientific method experiment (Rocket Launch) & 1:00pm-3:00pm Virtual Natural Areas Hike with Rangel

    THE DEERING ESTATE is a cultural and educational facility that features classes and programs for children and adults, teacher training, and research opportunities. With Charles Deering’s rich naval record and history of boating in Miami Dade County, the Estate’s proximity to shallow bay waters, and with 444-acres that makes up the eastern portion of the estate, the Deering Estate at Cutler is an ideal location for this program.

    This week-long introductory course is designed to prepare students for English 6. There will be an emphasis on constructing clear, varied sentences and strong, coherent paragraphs both independent of and in response to text.

    This week-long intensive course is designed to prepare students for high school writing. There will be an emphasis on the fundamentals including grammar, punctuation, sentence structure as well as essay forms that will be increasingly required in the upper school.   • Football Conditioning Clinic

    Ages: 4th grade - 7th grade; 8th grade and up

    Football camp will be led by Palmer Trinity’s Head Varsity Football Coach, Mark Reese. This is ideal for any student wishing to advance their game, improve fundamental skills, advance their team concepts, and train in their individual positions. Throughout the camp, participants will get the opportunity to learn schemes, concepts, and the basics of football.   The course will teach drills for each position with the ability to do at your own convenience. We will also have guest speakers and daily chalk talk. This camp is highly recommended for current players in preparation for the upcoming season.
     
    *Attending this Conditioning Clinic does not guarantee participants additional game playing time, team positions, stats, etc.  This program is open to the public and is designed for the participant to improve skills, develop as an athlete and love the sport.
     
  • Girltalk Summer Workshops - Friendship 101

    Moving on up to Middle School, social relationships and friendships may get a little more complicated. Come participate in a best practice, evidence-based two-week workshop focused on friendship, conflict resolution, being included/left out, communication and skill-building activities that build on resilience and protective factors that help to strengthen relationships in a fun way. This course will be taught by Mrs. Susana R. Cetta, LMHC Facilitator.
     
  • Girltalk Summer Workshops - Empowerment and Identity On Social Media

    Empowerment and Identity on Social Media is a two-week evidence-based best practice workshop with essential tools and resources to promote healthy development for youth growing up in today’s digital world. Providing skills development for media literacy, digital citizenship, and more accurate information on how to use social media safely and in more of an emotionally healthy manner, this curriculum harnesses the relational strengths of youth to effectively explore the complex intersecting topics of technology, body image, cyberbullying, exploitation, and relationships. This course will be taught by Mrs. Susana R. Cetta, LMHC Facilitator.

    Have you ever read a book, seen a movie, watched a television show, or played a game that centered around different aspects of a larger story or universe? During this week-long course, you will design a strategy for developing and telling your own mixed media story. Mixed media storytelling is the practice of designing, sharing, and participating in a cohesive story experience across multiple traditional and digital delivery platforms - for entertainment, advertising, and marketing, or social change. You will learn about what it takes to:
    • Shape your ideas into compelling and well-structured narratives in complex story worlds
    • Identify, understand, and engage different audiences in your stories
    • Use existing and emerging technologies to share your story with the world and help your audience participate in the larger "story-world" that you create.

    Do you play guitar? Join Dr. Harvin for Rock Guitar! Enjoy playing and learning about different Rock guitar techniques like power chords, hammer-ons, pull-offs, picking mechanics, tapping arpeggios, scales/modes, and everything you need to create or learn a scorching hot, Rock song! Each session will focus on a specific goal and use it in a song. Students will need to practice outside of the course to achieve maximum benefit. Zoom meetings for each session.

    Ever wanted to influence people to action when you speak? Or have you just wanted to speak in public without looking nervous? Well, this camp is for you! Our goal is to understand the art of public speaking and improve our use of rhetorical techniques so that we can be influential speakers. Each day we will explore a few techniques and then hone that skill through challenges focused on current hot topics. The week will end with our very own mini-TEDTalk!
     
  • Stagecraft - Theatre Makeup

    Stagecraft, the technical aspects of theatrical production, include scenic design, stage machinery, lighting, sound, costume design, and makeup. This class is perfect for anyone interested in understanding what goes behind the scenes of any performance, particularly in the areas of stage makeup design and creation. Students will acquaint themselves with basic skills and learn the history of theatrical makeup.
     
  • Tennis Conditioning Clinic

    This Tennis Camp will be tailored to help players improve their skills, strategy, and fitness playing tennis on the Palmer courts.  Players will be grouped in similar skill levels in order to develop each player to their best potential while enjoying the great game of tennis. Players will focus on forehand, backhand, overhead, and serving, along with strategies for playing singles and doubles tennis.

  • Payment

    Payment is due in full at the time of registration and prior to the student participating in the course or camp. Payment can be made conveniently online by debit and credit card. 
     
     
  • Daily Login

    The participants will gather daily online via a computer or mobile phone with video capabilities. Your login information will be sent to you via email prior to the camp or course.
     
  • Cancellations and Refunds

    A refund will be granted for cancellations made via email 14 days prior to the first day of the start date ONLY. Tuition payments will be refunded on a prorated basis only if a course or camp is canceled by Palmer Trinity and an alternate offering is not available.
