Falcon Summer Camp

WELCOME TO PALMER TRINITY SCHOOL 2019 FALCON SUMMER CAMP

Palmer Trinity School invites boys and girls in Kindergarten and up in the greater Miami community to experience arts, academics, enrichment, and sports at our Falcon Summer Camp. Join our world-class faculty, staff and summer camp specialists for a fun-filled and activity based program for all ages.

Join our world-class faculty, staff and summer camp specialists for a fun-filled and activity based program for all ages.
 
Our 8-week camp will be held Monday - Friday beginning June 10, 2019.  Lunch will be provided daily for all participants. Early care and Aftercare are offered for your convenience from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. for $10 per day or $25 per week. Registration Fees for Falcon Summer Camp is $25.00.

Falcon Summer Camp
Falcon Summer Camp hours vary from full-day camps (9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) to half-day camps (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.). Summer Camp activities will include Field Trips, Water Activities, Games, Arts & Crafts, Sports, Movies, Outdoor Exploration, and Themed Events. Participant age groups include Primers (Kindergarten - 2nd grade), Juniors (3rd - 5th grade) and Teens (6th grade and up).

$200.00 per week / $100.00 per week for Half day camp (until April 15th)
$250.00 per week / $150.00 per week for Half day camp (after April 16th)

  • ASAP Basketball Conditioning Clinic

    Cost - $175.00 (until April 15th), $200.00 (after April 16th)
    Location: Gymnasium
    Dates - Week 1 (June 10th - 14th) 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.;

    This Basketball Clinic will be run by Andre Smith. Trainings are tailored to help players reach their full performance ability and potential through Play-Maker Enhancement Drills which focus on Fundamentals, ball handling, shooting mechanics, defensive principles and conditioning. Coach Smith scored more than 1,100 points during his career at Miami Palmetto Senior High. He starred as a pro basketball player for over 10 years and was inducted into the UNC-Asheville Hall of Fame. He finished his career as UNC-Ashville’s 6th all-time leading scorer and 2nd all-time in steals and also led them to their first NCAA Tournament appearance. He played professionally in the NBA’s D-League, Lithuania (NKL All-Star), Mexico, Argentina (Liga-A import All-Star), Iranian Super League and captained the Jamaican National Team from 2006-2011.
     
  • The Art and Science of Baking

    Each day would be designed around a specific baking genre. Participants will bake and taste creations and bring professional looking finished products home to share. Daily baking activities include the following: Day One - Introduction, kitchen basics, and cookies; Day Two – Pan bars; Day Three – Pies and decorative pie crusts; Day Four – Cupcakes, candy-coated cake pops, and decorative frosting; and Day Five – 5-layer filled cake with decorative frosting Capstone project that incorporates multiple skills learned during the week. *No components will include tree nuts, but the class will include dairy.
     
     
  • The Art and Science of Cooking

    Cost - $200.00

    Each day would be designed around a specific region. Participants will prepare and eat a meal daily, and bring home samples of what they made each day wrapped up in aluminum foil in the shape of swans. We will also be learning how to properly set a table and serve guests. This includes napkin folding in the shape of various things.

    Daily cooking activities include the following:
    Day One – Italian and kitchen basics (Lasagna, Caprese salad with balsamic reduction, From-scratch breadsticks and Zeppole); Day Two – French (Beef bourguignon, Lyonnaise salad, Gougeres (French cheese puff), Poire avec orange with edible gold foil (poached pear) and French lemonade; Day Three – Decorative Appetizers (Mini Muffulettas, Shaped cucumber party sandwiches, Baked chicken puffs, Shrimp tartlets, French piped potatoes, Deep fried mozzarella wonton with tomato dipping sauce, Deep fried Twinkies and mini-snickers bars with chocolate and strawberry sauces and Guava punch); Day Four – Thai (Thai red curry chicken, Chicken egg rolls, Tom Kha soup, Thai banana pancakes and Jasmine tea); and Day Five – Mexican (Beef, bean, and cheese enchiladas with sour cream sauce, Chicken tortilla soup, From-scratch guacamole with baked tortilla triangles, Sopaipilla bites and Agua fresca (hibiscus tea).

    *No components will include tree nuts or pork, but the class will include dairy, chicken and beef.
     
  • Baseball Conditioning Clinic

    This Baseball Conditioning Clinic will be run by Palmer Trinity School’s own Coach Jack Weinberger and will provide players with the opportunity to learn new skills and grow as a baseball player in all three phases of the game: hitting, pitching, and fielding. This fun-filled educational conditioning clinic is designed for players who are both just learning the game, to players preparing for college baseball, and will help all players reach their full performance ability and potential.
     
  • Boot Camp

    Join us in the PTS Fitness Center for Boot Camp designed for all fitness levels. Palmer Trinity’s very own Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, Coach Perri, will take you through an energetic, dynamic and functional circuit training session that involves a combination of body weight exercises, resistance training, interval cardio moves, and other cutting edge strength and conditioning techniques. Coach Perri’s certifications include:
    • IFPA Performance Trainer and Sports Nutritionist
    • USAW Sports Performance Coach (Level 1)
    • NCSF Strength and Conditioning and Sports Training
    • Certified by the American Heart Association for CPR/AED/First Aid/Oxygen/Infant Safety
  • Chess

    Join Dr. Harvin for our chess camp. Enjoy playing and learning about the beautiful game of chess which incorporates and encourages inquiry, strategic planning, pattern recognition, rule-based thinking, problem-solving, visualization, creativity, and competition. You will learn and play through tactics, strategy, and winning combinations. The camp will culminate in a tournament with first, second, and third place trophies awarded.

    *Participants are welcome to attend the Falcon Summer Camp from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
     
  • Dance

    Dance Classes are designed to expose dancers from the community to a variety of dance forms and teach proper skills for Hip Hop, Contemporary, Technique (Tricks, Conditioning, Flexibility), Theatrical Jazz/Tap, Improv/Self-Choreography, Classical Ballet & Modern. The Competitive Dance Camp during Week 7 & 8 is designed to prepare participants for the opportunity to perform in community events, school-wide convocations, and  recitals, and most importantly, in dance competitions. Required Attire: Comfortable dancewear. *Attire can be purchased at Dance Plus. They provide PTS dancers with a discount and are located at 8433 SW 132nd St Miami, FL, 33156 (305) 255-4367 and are closed on Sundays and Mondays.
     
  • Deering Estate: S.E.A. Camp (Shore, Ecology, and Awareness)

    Palmer Trinity School has partnered with Deering Estate to provide this unique all-day camp to our community. Learn bay navigation and nautical skills, enjoy nature-based recreational sports with friends, and rediscover the outdoors while enhancing awareness of our community’s bay and coastal resources. This program takes place outdoors, on land and at sea, and participants will gain experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) careers, all while having fun.
     
    S.E.A. Camp will consist of THREE MODULES: Learning the Basics (Techniques and Equipment), Knowing the Bay Environment, and Exploring Biscayne Bay through the following activities:
    • Day 1: Orientation day including hiking around the 444-acres that makes up the eastern portion of the estate. There will also be a swim test, so please have swim attire and a change of clothes ready.
    • Day 2: Canoe Techniques & Cutler Creek Paddle. Fish Dissection.
    • Day 3: Kayak Techniques & FPL Canal Paddle. Squid Dissection.
    • Day 4: Seagrass Survey/Snorkeling. Animal Encounter.
    • Day 5: Paddle Boarding/Kayaking. Campfire & S'mores.
    • Plus, alternative activities (during inclement weather)
    Attire: Swimsuit, water friendly shorts, and SPF 50 long sleeve dri-fit shirt, hat, sunscreen and a dry change of clothes. Footwear: Sneakers, socks and while in the water, students should ALWAYS have closed-toed water shoes on their feet. Sandals, flip-flops, and crocs are NOT allowed.
    THE DEERING ESTATE is a cultural and educational facility that features classes and programs for children and adults, teacher training, and research opportunities. With Charles Deering’s rich naval record and history of boating in Miami Dade County, the Estate’s proximity to shallow bay waters, and with 444-acres that makes up the eastern portion of the estate, the Deering Estate at Cutler is an ideal location for this program.

  • Digital Photography

    Digital Photography is an Introductory class that will teach you how to use your Mobile Phone camera or a DSLR camera to capture images that reflect thoughtful composition and lighting. You will be shooting portraits, landscape, and abstract images. Using Photoshop, you will learn how to adjust the brightness/contrast & saturation of your images, how to crop images for stronger composition and how to blend layers to create digital art.
     
  • Fishing Camp

    This week-long camp will consist of daily fishing on a daily basis in pursuit of trophy fish in either freshwater at Bill Sadowski Park and/or inshore in the bay in the flats around the Deering Estate. Bring your own tackle or use one of ours! In addition to fishing, other topics including tackle, rigging of tackle, knot tying, cast netting, catch-and-release, local fishing regulations, native vs exotics and environmental stewardship are also covered.  Beginning Fishing Pole and Rod building skills will be covered.
     
  • Football Conditioning Clinic

    6th grade - 12th grade
     
    Football camp will be led by Palmer Trinity’s Head Varsity Football Coach, Mark Reese. This is ideal for any student wishing to advance their game, improve fundamental skills, advance their team concepts, and train in their individual positions. Throughout the camp, participants will get the opportunity to develop strength, speed, and agility in the weight room. This camp is highly recommended for current players in preparation for the upcoming season.
     
  • Intro to Algebra I - Incoming 8th/9th Grade

    Cost - $200.00

    This course is a review of the main topics in pre-algebra and an introduction to beginning algebra concepts. It is intended to prepare students entering an Algebra 1 type course. It will cover a range of topics including operations with integers, fractions, and decimals, solving basic algebraic equations, simplifying algebraic expressions, graphing simple linear functions, and general problem-solving. You will gain confidence in these skills as you prepare for the new school year.
     
  • Intro to Algebra II - Incoming 9th - 11th Grade

  • Intro to English 6

    This week-long intensive course is designed to prepare students for high school writing. There will be an emphasis on the fundamentals including grammar, punctuation, sentence structure as well as essay forms that will be increasingly required in the upper school. This is a writing-focused course that will enable students to start high school with a foundation of coherent writing for a variety of purposes appropriate to their grade level.
     
  • Intro to Geometry - Incoming 8th - 10th Grade

  • Mixed Media: Story Telling

    Have you ever read a book, seen a movie, watched a television show or played a game that centered around different aspects of a larger story or universe? During this week-long course, you will design a strategy for developing and telling your own mixed media story. Mixed media storytelling is the practice of designing, sharing, and participating in a cohesive story experience across multiple traditional and digital delivery platforms - for entertainment, advertising, and marketing, or social change. You will learn about what it takes to:
    • Shape your ideas into compelling and well-structured narratives in complex story worlds
    • Identify, understand, and engage different audiences in your stories
    • Use existing and emerging technologies to share your story with the world and help your audience participate in the larger "story-world" that you create.
    No prior experience needed.
     
  • Soccer Conditioning Clinic

    Come out and kick it with us to developing, polishing or simply just having fun with the game of soccer. Palmer Trinity's Head Soccer Coach, Eric Perri, will be implementing proper warm-up drills, team activities and fun soccer games. This clinic consists of Group Stretch & Calisthenics Movements, Field Training (Solo Drills/Team Drills), and Creative Game and Competition! This is a great way for your child to build confidence and learn teamwork while improving their soccer skills.  
     
  • Solar Power: Fueling Tomorrow

    This week-long engaging course is designed for the “Innovators” of tomorrow. Leveraging our newly minted Innovation Spaces on Campus, this course introduces the technologies that convert solar energy into electricity, heat and solar fuels with the main focus on electricity generation. You will gain a greater understanding of the principles of the photovoltaic conversion— the conversion of light into electricity. We will also be taking part in a hands-on project throughout the week.
    No prior experience needed.
     
  • Volleyball Conditioning Clinic

    Palmer Trinity’s Volleyball Clinic will be led by Varsity Volleyball Coach William Gonzalez and it is intended for players of all skill levels. Players will have the chance to practice and improve, but will also be provided fun opportunities to compete in skills competitions and scrimmage games.

    Come together for this fun upbeat program and leave your stress and worries at the door. Come sweat with us to unclutter your mind, clear classroom fatigue, and create new energy for life. Yoga workouts focus on core strength, tribal movements, Pilates, cardio and plyometrics. Classes will be fun and engaging to find connection through movement, strength and healthier lifestyle choices while increasing flexibility, improving athletic ability and adding endurance.

  • Payment

    Payment is due in full at the time of registration and prior to the student participating in the camp or course. Payment can be made conveniently online by debit and credit card.
     
  • Cancellations and Refunds

    A refund will be granted for cancellations made via email 14 days prior to the first day of the start date ONLY. Tuition payments will be refunded on a prorated basis only if a camp or course is canceled by Palmer Trinity and an alternate offering is not available.
     
  • Safety

    A secure environment is the top priority of Palmer Trinity School. Any visitor on campus, including parents, must present a valid ID at the Security Guard Gate in the form of a Florida Driver's License. Palmer Trinity's excellent security team will be present at all times monitoring the campus throughout the day. Kindly adhere to the following Restrictions and Responsibility guidelines.
     
  • Daily Meeting Locations, Pick Up and Drop Off

    The participants will gather daily at the following locations and times:

    *SEA CAMP will need to report directly to the Deering Estates Visitor Center located at 16701 SW 72 AVE Palmetto Bay, 33157 (on Old Cutler Road)

    Any individual picking up a participant on campus, including parents, must present a valid ID at Sign Out in the form of a Florida Driver's License and must be Authorized to pick up at the time of registration. If the participant will need to be picked up by anyone not listed, the responsibility lies on the Parent to inform the Director of Auxiliary Programs in person or via email. Participants may sign themselves out if they are in 6th grade and up and have been authorized to sign themselves out at the time of registration.
     
  • Restrictions and Responsibility

    Do not allow your child to bring toys, squirt guns, trading cards, or weapons of any kind or electronic devices (unless required for a course). No illegal drugs or alcohol are permitted on the premises. Label everything! We will provide a lost and found and any items not retrieved will be donated to charity at the end of the course. Palmer Trinity School is not responsible for any lost items. Parents and students are responsible for communicating any concerns or pick up/drop off changes in advance. Students will not be allowed to deter from their daily schedule unless a written request is presented in advance.
     
  • Medical

    Palmer Trinity staff, as well as certified instructors, are certified in CPR/First Aid. The school is equipped with AED units. If your child is bringing medication to camp that must be taken during the day, please adhere to the following guidelines:
    • Place your child's medication in a Ziploc bag with their first and last name clearly marked with a permanent marker.
    • Palmer Trinity will observe medical administration, but WILL NOT directly administer medication, with the exception of participants who bring their own EpiPen and are suffering from anaphylaxis.
