PTS Takes Part in the Million Orchid Project
Members of the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Staff paid a visit to Palmer Trinity students this afternoon to help assist in the next steps of orchid propagation. PTS is currently taking part in The Million Orchid Project, a new program that hopes to re-introduce millions of native Florida orchids back into the environment. Over the course of this school year, students will learn how to grow hundreds of native Cowhorn Orchids, which will be reintroduced into the South Florida environment over the next 5 years. In March, students will submit a presentation highlighting what they’ve learned and the winning school will win points for The Fairchild Challenge.

Students in Women’ Studies Attend FIU Conference
At the Inaugural International Conference on Gender and Violence, PTS students were exposed to academic fieldwork, research, and activism to get a deeper understanding of this phenomenon and its multiple dimensions at a local, national, and global scale. Students were fortunate to talk to the keynote speaker, Mrs. Lynn Rosenthal, White House Advisor on Violence Against Women, who listened with great attention and enthusiasm to sophomore Lauren Keller and her project to raise awareness on girls and women's issues at our school. Mrs. Rosenthal commented on the prospects of these young students and the certainty that they will be agents of change and true global citizens.
