Breakthrough Miami

Ariel Edwards of Breakthrough Miami with Mr. Murphy

Founded in 1991, Breakthrough Miami aims to inspire and encourage talented, motivated middle-school students to enter and thrive in top college preparatory high school programs and graduate from college. The program also promotes careers in education for the outstanding high school and college students who teach, tutor and mentor in Breakthrough Miami’s Summer Institute and School Year Programs.

Palmer Trinity School is excited to partner with Breakthrough Miami and will serve as the home of Breakthrough’s expansion site into Southwest Miami-Dade County. Starting in June 2011, Palmer Trinity will welcome 75 rising 5th and 6th grade students for its Summer Institute, in conjunction with Breakthrough Miami’s other locations throughout the county. Palmer Trinity will also participate in Breakthrough’s year-round program, SAT/ACT Prep and mentoring sessions. “Palmer Trinity School is extremely proud to partner with Breakthrough Miami, and share our educational resources and beautiful campus with a community of eager, motivated young students,” said Head of School Sean Murphy. “We are also excited to provide an opportunity for our own students who seek a career in the teaching arts. Given our shared vision of learning, leadership, and community, we are looking forward to the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship with Breakthrough Miami.” Ariel Edwards, who recently served as Assistant Site Director at Doctor’s Charter School in Miami Shores, is now the Senior Site Director at Palmer Trinity.
